Aaron Lee “Blaze” Chapman, age 45, of Cherryville, passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. He was born March 2, 1981, in Lincoln County, middle son of Randy and Julia Sigmon Chapman.
Aaron was a member of First Wesleyan Church of Cherryville. He was a former Eagle Scout with Cherryville Boy Scout Troop 323. Aaron also volunteered with the Cherryville Fire Department for nine years. Aaron also had a passion for special needs children and was very active with the Special Olympics. He was employed with Kirk Thornburg at KT Towing as a tow truck driver. Some of his favorite hobbies were riding his Harley and Carp fishing.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Darril Sigmon; and his paternal grandparents, Fred and Helen Neill, and Gorman Chapman.
Survivors include his parents, Randy and Julia Sigmon Chapman; fiancé’, Kelly Robertson; children, Kaleb Chapman, Kelsi Chapman, Silver Chapman, and Axton Rick; brothers, Josh Chapman (Charity) and Daniel Chapman (Krystal); maternal grandmother, Sarah Sigmon; uncles and aunts, Bengy Sigmon (Lisa), Melinda Beam (Ed), Marsha Yount (Roy), Kathy Pilkington (Randy), and Debra Recore (Joe); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:30pm Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at First Wesleyan Church with Pastor Mark Poe officiating. Burial will follow at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:15 prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church at 800 N Pink St, Cherryville, NC 28021, or the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital at https://donate.shrinerschildrens.org.
