Allen Yarboro, Sr.

Allen James Yarboro, Sr., age 93, of Waco, passed away Friday, April 17, 2026, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. He was born March 8, 1933, in Cleveland County, to the late Olin and Lala Allen Yarboro.

Allen was a member of Waco Baptist Church and a former member of Waco Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. Allen enjoyed being outside – restoring and collecting tractors, taking care of his goats, and working in his garden.

In addition to his parents, Allen is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Barbara DeVenny Yarboro; and sisters, Ruth Spurling, Mary Lou Kiser, and Margaret Bowen.

Allen is survived by a daughter, Frances “Fran” A. Yarboro, of Ellenboro, and two sons, Allen James “Jamey” Yarboro, Jr. and wife, Julia, of Franklin, NC, and Douglas D. Yarboro, and wife, Leah, of Mount Airy, NC; sister, Cerelda Brady, of Shelby, NC; two grandsons, Clinton J. Yarboro, of Walkertown, NC, Mason Abernathy, of Waco, NC, and a granddaughter, Layla Yarboro, of Canton, NC; a great-grandson, Jaxon Yarboro, of Walkertown, NC; and special couple, Roger and Deb Neal.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Waco Baptist Church with Rev. Neil Efrid and Rev. Dr. Tim Elmore officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM, prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Capernaum Cemetery.
