Betty Abee Brooks

Betty Rose Abee Brooks, age 92, of Myrtle Beach, formally of Kings Mountain, passed away September 22, 2026, at Reflections Assisted Living at Carolina Forest. Betty was born September 21, 1934, in Burke County, to the late Frank and Bessie Townsend Abee. Betty loved dancing with her husband, specifically couples dancing and line dancing. She also enjoyed vegetable gardening and sewing.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Alfred “Hap” Brooks; brothers, Horace Abee (Edith), John Ray Abee (Deane), and James Abee; and sisters, Azalee Moore (Charles), and Mary Alice Heavner (Jr.).

Survivors include her daughter, Diana B. Cross; grandsons, Kenneth Dale Cross and Jesse Aaron Cross; and sister-in-law, Ann Abee.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Matt Thomas officiating. A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton, at a later date.
