Brenda Laws

Brenda "Joy" Sellers Laws, 70, of Lakeview Rd., died Feb. 2, 2015 at Hospice at Wendover.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1944 in Cleveland Co. a daughter of the late Ralph and Lillian Jenkins Sellers.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne University. Mrs. Laws was retired from Gaston Co. Schools as a leader of young minds at Costner Elementary. Joy found great pleasure in beach music and Shagging with the Society of Stranders.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister Glenda Jackson.

She is survived by her husband Fred "Freddie" Laws, children James Milton Roane(Sarah) of Greensboro, Traci Roane Hovis(Alan) of Shelby, step daughters Amanda Munday(Jeff) of Statesville and Carrie Morris(Chris) of Sherrills Ford, grandchildren Alayna Hovis, Andrew Hovis, Nikki Roane, Will Roane, Josie Munday, Jenna Munday, Landyn Morris and Cooper Morris,a great grandson Mason Hovis, a brother Garon Sellers (Julie), of Cherryville , and a sister Debby Presson(Johnny) Mint Hill.

The family will receive friends February 6, 2015 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church from 1-3:30 PM and at other times at the home. Funeral services will be held following the visitation at St. Mark's Lutheran Church at 4 PM with Rev. Malcom Lerch officiating with burial in the church cemetery.
