Britt Fender

Nov 24, 1947 — Oct 7, 2026

Shelby

Britt Fender, age 78, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. Britt was born November 24, 1947, in McDowell County, to the late William McKinley and Donnie Mae Edwards Fender.

Britt had a heart as big as Texas, and he always opened his heart to those less fortunate. In recent years, he had recommitted his heart to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Britt was a member of Lincolnton Church of God and a founding member of Driven By Grace Biker Ministry. Britt was actively involved in his church; he built the playground in loving memory of his wife, Cindy, and the bike show every year was called Britt’s Bike Show. Family meant everything to him, and he was affectionately known as “Pop” to many.

In addition to his parents, Britt was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Gay Hyatt Fender; brother, Harley Fender; and sister, Ann Otey.

Survivors include his daughter, Angelia Fender-Michael, and husband, John, of Shelby; brother, Bill Fender, and wife, Becky, of Shelby; granddaughter, Alexandra Rose Michael, aka Petunia, of Shelby; right hand man, Mark Fender; protégé, Mack Fender; special caregiver and friend, Tonya Star Wallace, aka Yo, of Shelby; beloved nieces and nephews all over the Southern United States; and last, but certainly not least… DAMMIT.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Lincolnton Church of God, with Bishop Danny Houser and Bishop Dr. Richard King officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45, prior to the service at the church. Burial will be private.

As Britt always famously said… “I ain’t skeered” … not even now.
