On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Carol Elizabeth Browne (affectionately known as "Ceeb"), age 70, of Cherryville, North Carolina, passed away as gently as she lived.
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on November 26, 1955, Carol was a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Colorado.
Carol lived a simple and unique life filled with music, laughter, and love. She had a deep connection with animals, especially her beloved Golden Retriever, Abby. Carol worked for many years as a reservationist at Eastern Airlines, where she cultivated her lifelong passion for travel. Having lived out west for many years, she never lost her awe of the Rocky Mountains, and Taos, New Mexico, always held a special place in her spirit. A lifelong learner, football enthusiast, and avid gardener with a true green thumb, Carol was fiercely protective of her family and those she treasured. Her grace, empathy, and humble demeanor were a beautiful gift to all who were blessed to know and love her.
Carol is survived by her sisters, Melissa Beam (Stan) of Cherryville and Nancy Russell of Gainesville, Georgia; her nieces, Summer Bachman (Jesse), Holly Thornburg (Justin), Brittany Buck (Phil), Kelsey Coleman (Ryan), Blair Mauney (Hunter) and Laura Smith (Jeremy); her nephews, Tyler Russell and Jason Browne (Rozzie); and her cherished Browne cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Clemmer and Norma Proctor Browne; an infant sister, Susan Patrice Browne; and her brother, James Martin Browne.
The Browne family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Peak Resources, the many friends, family and community for your outpouring of love and support and to her special angel, caregiver, and cousin, Mary Jane West.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 12, 2026, from 2:00 to 2:45 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe officiating. Interment will be held immediately after at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to PETA - 501 Front St., Norfolk, VA 23510 or to WWF - 1250 24th St NW Washington, DC 20037.
