Charles "Ray" Trammell

Charles “Ray” Trammell, age 75, of Cherryville, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Atrium Health Cleveland. He was born on January 28, 1950, in Gaston County to the late Lee and Josephine Dedmon Trammell. Ray was employed with Doran Mills for more than 30 years and retired from Bradington Young. He enjoyed the outdoors and going to the mountains. Ray also enjoyed hunting large snapping turtles, which he referred to as “cooter huntin’”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sherry Lynn Heavner Trammell; beloved daughter, Shellie Heavner Jones; sister, Jean Marson; and brothers, JD Trammell, and James Trammell.

Survivors include his son, Bo Trammell; grandchildren, Christian Scott Jones and wife, Haley, and Daniel Jones; great-granddaughter, Mara Grace Jones; sisters, Margie Trammell Martin, and Sissy Trammell Parker; mother-in-law, Vergie Heavner; sister-in-law, Beth and Scott Edwards; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 1:00 to 1:45 PM at Cherryville Christian Fellowship Church. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will be private.
