David "Herb" Blanton

David William “Herb” Blanton, age 71, of Cherryville, passed away Friday, March 7, 2025, at Atrium Health Lincoln. He was born November 21, 1953, in Cleveland County to the late David Benjamin “Benny” and Mozelle Poole Blanton. Herb retired from Timken and worked part-time with NAPA Auto Parts. He also served for 10 years as Fire Chief at Hugh’s Pond VFD. Herb enjoyed Ham Radio and was a member of The Knights of Pythias - Randy Huffman Memorial Lodge #263. He was the best Pawpaw and adored his grandchildren more than anything.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Chase Blanton.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Whitworth Blanton; son, Keith Blanton and wife, Christina; grandchildren, Jayden Blanton, Ja’Mya Blanton, and Michael Blanton; and sister-in-law, Vickey Silver.

In accordance with his wishes, no formal services will be held.
