Deborah “Debbie” Fisher Peeler, 70, of Cherryville, NC, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Debbie was known for her big heart, her hardworking spirit, and the way she could make anyone feel like family. She spent many years working for Osmose Wood Preserving, where she built not only a career she was proud of, but also lifelong friendships. Later, she brought that same dedication and good humor to her work at Pepsi, where she was respected for her reliability and her contagious laugh that could brighten even the busiest day.
Outside of work, Debbie gave so much of herself to the community. She was a proud member of the AMVETS, always ready to lend a helping hand and support local veterans and their families. She also loved being part of the American Legion World Series events, where she combined her love of teamwork, sports, and bringing people together. Whether she was volunteering, organizing, or cheering from the sidelines, she did it all with enthusiasm and heart.
Family and friends were at the center of Debbie’s world, especially her grand and great-grandkids who affectionately called her Mawmaw. She loved the beach, caring for others, cooking, and any reason to gather everyone together. Her home was always filled with laughter, good food, and open arms.
She will be forever missed by her children, Dawn Farmer, Brent Peeler & wife Misti, Cary Ray, Andy Peeler & wife Chelly, and Andy Bennett and wife Ashley, her grandchildren, Ashley, Harley, Kevin, Makenzie, Madison, Gage, Blake, Ashlyn, Ethan, Zane, and Skylar, great-grandchildren, Ivan, Leo, Auburn, Le’Niya, and Winn, nieces Carol Atkins (Frank), Rebecca Fisher, Megan Atkins, Thea Teague, in-laws Janet Fisher, Linda Hendrick, Joe & Irene Peeler, Phil Peeler, Charlie & Starr Peeler, Tim & Sheila Peeler, and many nieces, nephews, god-children and special friends whose lives she touched along the way. She was preceded in death by husband Mike Peeler, parents Allen & Helen Fisher, brother Terry R. Fisher, cousins Annette Cody & Rick Helms, and granddaughter Margaret Nicole Ray.
A receiving of friends will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 1:30 to 2:45 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Cherryville, service to follow at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Butterfly Tree at the Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute in Shelby, NC or Hospice Cleveland County.
Debbie had a way of making every day a little brighter. Her kindness, humor, and strength will live on in all who knew her.
