Dennis Beam, Jr.

Dennis Avery “Denny” Beam, Jr. age 72 of Cherryville, passed away Monday, November 28, 2022, at Atrium Health Mercy.  He was born May 2, 1950 in Cleveland County to the late Dennis Avery Beam, Sr. and Rachel Carpenter Beam.  Denny was a Veteran of the United States Army.  He served in Vietnam from 1971-1973.  Denny was a recipient of the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was a member of American Legion Post #100.  He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church as a child where he had 14 years perfect attendance for Sunday School.  He enjoyed music and traveled as a bass guitarist for more than 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Renee Bumgardner Beam; son, Jesse Lee Beam; aunt, Beulah Reynolds; uncle, Jim Carpenter; aunts, Betty Carpenter, and Pansy Carpenter; his golden retriever, Tucker; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday December 3, 2022 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating.  Burial will be private.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
