Earlene Sain Heafner, age 85, of Vale, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Atrium Lincoln, surrounded by her family. She was born August 9, 1940, in Cleveland County to the late Lloyd and Eleze Hoyle Sain.
Earlene was a lifelong member of Reeps Grove United Methodist Church, where she faithfully played the organ and piano for over 70 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. To know her was to love her. Her life was a testimony of her deep love for Jesus, and she lived each day with kindness, generosity, and a heart for serving others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Fred "Glen" Heafner, and her brother, Eugene Sain.
Survivors include her children, Ricky Glen Heafner (Sherry), Karen Heafner Wilson (Johnny) and Pamela Heafner Houser (Shea); grandchildren, Rebecca Gantt (Donnie), Christopher Heafner (Meghan), Rachel Chapman (Ron), Heather Deyton (Jordan), Matthew Leatherman (Jill), Kaitlyn Houser (Chevy), Lily Houser, Gwendolyn Houser, Haley Bolick (Gage), and Andrew Stroupe (Destiny); great-grandchildren, Noah Gantt, Nick Gantt, Addison Gantt, Eli Deyton, Treasure Chapman, Karley Gantt, Ella Shea Chapman, Beau Heafner, Saylor Bolick, Dodge Bolick, and Wrenly Stroupe; sisters-in-law, Diane Sain, Linda Gilmore, Carolyn Canipe, and Judy Heafner; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 PM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church. Funeral Services officiated by Rev. Shea Houser will follow at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Glen, in the church cemetery.
