Edgar Osment

Edgar "Ed" D. Osment, 71, of Grier St., died Sept. 13, 2014 at Hospice of Catawba Co. Newton.
He was born on July 20, 1943 in Cherokee Co., SC a son of the late James Rhett and Bonnie Lorene Hyder Osment. Ed was a retired long line driver for Cal Tex Transportation, had the ability to be a great story teller, loved to eat, talk about trucking, and was always concerned about others.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter Barbara Tripplett, three brothers Albert, James, and Joseph Osment, and a step daughter Teresa Bivens.

He is survived by his wife Wanda Diane Bowen, daughter Theresa Osment Green and husband Lester of Hickory, eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, a brother Carl Osment of Cherryville, and a step sons Jamie Riddle, Teddy Allen, and Jerry Allen all of Lincolnton.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:30 PM at Carpenters Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Robert Mote officiating with burial to follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-3:15 PM at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
