Edward Bruce Russell, Jr., age 79, of Cherryville, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Wendover Hospice House. Edward was born June 17, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Edward Bruce Russell, Sr. and the late Margaret King Russell.
Edward was a proud veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed on the USS Bonhomme Richard. He also served as Second Vice Commander in American Legion Post #148 in Essex, Maryland. He received his associate’s degree in engineering from Essex’s Community College in Maryland. Edward was an inspector with the Department of Public Works in Baltimore for many years. He enjoyed DIY projects, and his drawers were often full of tools. Edward liked crossword puzzles and collecting lighthouses. He loved admiring pink skies, but more than anything, he loved being a father and a Poppy.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Carol Paska Russell; daughter, Kristen Nicole Russell (Michael Ward); son, Chad Thomas Russell (Tracy); brother, John Russell; and grandchildren, Courtney Russell, and Leia Ward.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral and Cremation Services.
His family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
