Frances Young Beam

Sarah Frances Young Beam, age 78, of Shelby, passed away February 10, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. Frances was born January 1, 1947, in Gaston County, to the late Victor Burton and Havana J. Brown Young. Frances was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church. She loved flowers and her toy poodle, Cricket.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Hudson Beam, Jr.; son-in-law, Rick Mellon; brothers, Burton Young, Jr., Bill Young, Donald Young, Russell Young, and Bonnie Young; and sisters, Martha Leonhardt, and Pat Davis.

Survivors include her daughter, Angela Mellon; grandchildren, Whitney Byers Williams, and Haley Byers Shaw (Colton); great-grandchildren, Wyatt Hudson Williams, Phillip Shaw, and Winston Shaw; sister, Betty George; brother, Steve Young (Jane); and in-laws, Collene Young, Mabel Young, Louise Young, Rob Leonhardt, and Larry Davis.

In accordance with Frances’ wishes, all services will be private.
