Gene Ledford

Hugh “Gene” Ledford, age 86, of Cherryville, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. Gene was born March 31, 1940, to the late Burns Augustus “Gus” and Fanny Elizabeth Carpenter Ledford.

Gene was a member of Cherryville Christian Fellowship (formerly Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church). He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Cincinnati Reds, Dallas Cowboys, and Duke Blue Devils fan.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his siblings, Adam Ledford, Bertha Hester, Diane Hoyle, Clyde Ledford, and Roy Ledford.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Sue Bivens Ledford; daughter, Amy Dellinger (Michael); granddaughter, Anna Hughey (Hunter); great-granddaughter, Clara Hughey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Cherryville Christian Fellowship, with Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw and Rev. Jimmy Rudisill officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM, prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville.
