Jerry Wayne Beck

Jerry Wayne Beck, age 74, of Newland, North Carolina passed away June 12, 2025, at Watauga Medical Center. A native of Cherryville, he was born November 13, 1950, in Gaston County, to the late Samuel Lawrence Beck and Annie Loyse Hull Smith.

Jerry attended Cherryville City Schools, graduating with the CHS Class of 1969. He was active in many CHS clubs and a member of the CHS Marching and Concert Bands. He and his mother Loyse were active members of the First Presbyterian Church for many years. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Anna “Debbie” Whitworth Beck; son, Jonathan Beck; and stepfather, Jesse Smith.

Survivors include his daughters, Melissa Marie Shanckle, and Stephanie Lauren Byrd; grandson, James “Cordae” Jackson; and other extended family and close friends.

A private burial will be held at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
