Jerry Bumgarner

Jerry Wayne Bumgarner, 70, of Hicks St. died March 3, 2016 at Carolina Healthcare Charlotte. He was born on July 28, 1945 in Lincoln County, a son of the late Glenn and Annie Faye Upton Bumgarner. He was retired plant engineer for Travis Knits. Jerry enjoyed fishing, listening to music and was an all-around handyman.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Danny Bumgarner and sisters, Glenda Garrison and Judy Barber.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha Jane Goins Bumgarner; children, Lisa Rae Bumgarner of Cherryville and Chad Bumgarner of Cherryville; three grandchildren, Destiny Bumgarner of Cherryville, Josh Black of Nashville, TN and Faith Putnam of Cherryville; sisters, Sherrie Cuthbertson of FL, Rita Beckner of IN, and Miki Metivier of Indiana.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Carpenter's Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1:30 - 2:45.
