Jessie Hord

Jessie Ruth Noles Hord, age 84, of Crouse Road, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at her residence. She was born on March 18, 1929 in Gaston County, a daughter of the late Arthur and Beulah McAllister Noles. Mrs. Hord was a member of Crouse United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and traveling. Ruth formerly worked part-time at Harris-Teeter and with the Phone Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Johnnie, Forest, Everett, Fred, and Edward Noles; and sister, Laura Drake.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, James Ben Hord; sons, Larry James Hord (Kathie) of Asheboro, and Alan Lewis Hord (Jane) of Mt. Airy; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at Crouse United Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Cliff Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter's Funeral & Cremation Services.
