Joe Ballard

Joe Jenkins Ballard, age 79 of S. Jacob St. passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at his residence. He was born on January 18, 1937 in Lincoln County to the late Howard Blaine and Stella Mae Jenkins Ballard. Joe retired from Doran Mills and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Christians Motorcycle Association of Myrtle Beach. Joe enjoyed rocking on the front porch and waving as everyone drove by. He loved spending time with all his friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 and half years, Janice Faye Ballard.

He leaves behind his three daughters, Angela and husband, Bob Jones of Shelby, Candy Wright and fiancé Bill Vinesett of Shelby, and Dana and husband, Samuel Perez of the home; his only son, Jamey and wife, Julie Wyatt of Cherryville; his one and only sister, Brenda and husband, Carroll Carpenter of Cherryville; his five wonderful granddaughters, Ashley Smith and Lindsey Ballard of the home, Stephanie and Emily Wright of Shelby, and very special Mary Beth Wyatt of Cherryville; his one and only grandson, Zach Bridges of Shelby; two nephews, Blake Carpenter of Texas and Kevin Carpenter of Sparta; and very special to his heart is niece, Heather Carpenter of Cherryville; and last, but not least, very dear and special friends, Dennis Devine and wife, Phobe of Cherryville and Barry Benson of Spartanburg, SC.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 12:00 PM at Carpenter's Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:45 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
