Kathy Elmore Lovelace, of Cherryville, passed away on the morning of April 11, 2016 at the age of 64 at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain, NC. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for ten months with much dignity and faith. Her husband Bill and daughter Tina always by her side.
Kathy was formerly employed at Cochrane Furniture in Lincolnton for 18 years and later retired from Gaston County Schools in Lowell, NC.
Kathy was born in Lincoln County on September 24, 1951 to the late Charles Hugh and Emma Carpenter Elmore. Their home was in Crouse where Kathy grew up. She was a graduate of West Lincoln High School. Following her graduation, she married the love of her life, Bill "Willie" Lovelace and, in 1973, their daughter Tina was born.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Crouse. She enjoyed travelling and camping for many years. In recent years, she and her family later found great pleasure spending time on Jekyll and St. Simons Islands in Georgia where she established enduring special friendships. She, Bill and Tina attended many Master's Golf Tournament in Augusta, GA over the years.
Kathy enjoyed being around family and friends who accepted her love, support, wisdom and kindness. She loved children and they loved her just as much. She was known as "Ganny Kathy" to Isaiah and her great nephews, Charlie, Marvin and Jack. Words cannot express what a genuine person she was. Loved by so many, she was one-of-a kind. She will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her and remembered so fondly by them.
Those left to cherish her memory is her husband of 45 years, Bill "Willie" Lovelace; daughter, Tina Lovelace of Crouse; sister, Judy Reel Lovelace of Maiden; brother, Johnny Reel of Oak island, NC; and a number of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Services to Celebrate her life will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, April 15, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Rick Sloop officiating. Interment will follow the service in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Carpenter's Funeral and Cremation Services in Cherryville, NC, Thursday, April 14th from 6:00 to 8:00pm and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, P O Box 131, Crouse, NC 28033.
