Kermit Quentin Perkins, 84, of Lincolnton, NC, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 23, 2025. He was the eighth of ten children born to the late Roosevelt Preston Perkins and Clara Mae Hoke Perkins.
A graduate of Rock Springs High School, Kermit dedicated 20 years of his career to J.P. Stevens, followed by 19 years at the CommScope Catawba plant. He was known for his deep Christian faith and tireless service to his church community. He served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Amity Baptist Church and later as an usher at South River Baptist Church. Kermit was also an avid outdoorsman who loved bird hunting and bass fishing, always ready to share stories from his many adventures with friends.
Kermit is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Cindy; his children Scotty (Michele) Perkins of Mooresville, Graham Perkins, and Angie (Tracy) Jenkins both of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Karly (Zach) of Charlotte and Kasey of Greenville, NC; two brothers- and two sisters-in-law; and a host of extended family members and cherished friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers R.C., Claude, Donald, and Bryan, and sisters Katherine Poole, Mildred Whisnant, Shirley Richard, Jewell McConnell, and Kaye Helton.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Hospice Care Team — especially Ashley, Reba, Brad, and Jessica — for their compassionate support during Kermit’s final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Amity Baptist Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 A.M., followed by the service at 11:30 A.M., officiated by Rev. Dan Farnsworth. Interment will follow in the cemetery.
