Lane Randall Minton

Lane Randall Minton, age 55, of Lincolnton, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. He was born April 6, 1970, in Plainfield New Jersey to Ernest Minton and JoAnn Homesley Minton.

During his childhood Lane moved with his family from New Jersey to Springfield, Virginia and later to Charlotte, North Carolina. Lane graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte in 1988 and then attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington and graduated with a BA in Marketing.

Lane was never scared to take on new opportunities and had many professions in his life. Upon graduating college, he and another graduate opened their own restaurant, Santa Fe Jack’s, where as co-owner he managed the books and oversaw operations. After selling that business he went on to become the Aquatics Director at the Jewish Community Center in Nashville, TN; later worked at a boat yard on the Eastern Shore of Maryland; worked as a climber on the construction of cellular towers, served as a project manager for Cost Effective Maintenance in Charlotte, NC; worked for Millett Enterprises doing home repairs in Charlotte and at the time of his death he was working in the firearm department for Academy Sports in Hickory.

Lane loved the outdoors and especially the beach. He loved hiking, sailing, scuba diving, and kayaking.

Survivors include his parents, Ernest and JoAnn Minton, and his brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Pam Minton.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
