Lila Kate Beaty Franklin, age 57, went to sleep on March 31, 2014 to go to heaven and be with her Lord, Jesus Christ. She was born October 13, 1956 in Gaston County, to the late Reese Harrison and Mary Zelda Wilson Beaty. She was employed as the supervisor of security at Metals of America in Shelby.
She is sitting with Jesus, her parents, and her daughter Kimberly Grindstaff, looking down from heaven letting her family know that she will always be watching over them.
She leaves behind her husband of 26 years, Mitchell Garry Franklin; son, Nelson Grindstaff and wife, Tina of Cherryville; daughter, Misty Smith and husband, David of Lawndale; son-in-law, Sam Wilson of Shelby; and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter's Funeral & Cremation Services. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to U.S. Fund for UNICEF, 125 Maiden Lane, New York, NY 10038.
