Lois Johnson Pence

Lois Johnson Pence, age 79, passed away June 17, 2025, at the Robin Johnson House. She was born October 31, 1945, in Lenoir County, to the late William Ernest and Mamie Sitton Johnson.

Lois was a 1963 graduate of Wheat Swamp High School in Kinston, NC where she was on the State Championship Basketball Team, played softball, and was voted “Most Wittiest.” She was employed in the accounting department with Carolina’s Medical Center. Lois was an avid sports fan and loved all sports. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers. She formerly attended Real Life Church and cherished the friendships she made there. Grandma Lois loved her family and adored her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Linda Smith and Millicent Oliver.

Survivors include her children, Gina Johns and husband, Marty, Mike Pence and wife, Lisa; significant other of 36 years, Randy Peel; grandchildren, Shenna Stansell, Steven Johnson, Ryan Pence and wife, Kassie, and Dalton Pence; great grandchild, Odin Crouse; and sister, Irene Brotherton and husband, Otis.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 11:00 to 11:45 AM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 PM officiated by Pastor Matt Thomas. Burial will be private.
