Louraine Thomas Champion, age 88, of Cherryville, passed away March 22, 2025, at The Greens in Lincolnton. Louraine was born July 13, 1936, in Madison County, to the late Troy Elbert Thomas, Sr. and the late Mary Jane Hurdt Thomas.
Louraine was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was passionately involved with Lincoln County ECA where she knitted hats for cancer patients, schools, and nursing homes.
In addition to her parents, Louraine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Champion; brother, George Thomas; infant daughter, Judy Kay; best friend, Faye Brittain; and beloved pet, Bella.
Survivors include her sons, Tommy Champion (Velvet), and Darren Champion (Candy); daughter, Teresa Champion; brother, Troy Thomas, Jr.; grandchildren, Trenton Champion (Deanna), Haley Ike (Adrian), and Camren Champion (Vivien); great-granddaughter, Mia Ike; best friend, Claudean Elmore; beloved pet, Angel; and Pastor, Rick Sloop.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crouse, with Pastor Rick Sloop officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 12:45 PM, prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
