Mamie Marie Spencer

Mamie Marie Spencer, age 46, of Belmont, entered into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, August 1, 2026, leaving behind every earthly limitation and embracing perfect healing. She was born December 6, 1979, in Gaston County to Clyde Edward Spencer and the late Mamie Marie Bailey Spencer.

Mamie made her home at the Belmont Group Home (Gaston Residential Services) for 25 years, where she was cherished by staff, housemates, and everyone who had the joy of knowing her. She was known for her bright spirit, and the unmistakable spark she brought into every room. She loved music and could get anyone to dance with her with just a smile. Michael Jackson was her favorite artist.

Throughout her years in care, Mamie formed deep bonds with those around her. She was dearly loved, and her presence enriched the lives of her GRS family in countless ways. Mamie’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

In addition to her mother, Mamie was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher James Spencer.

Survivors include her sister, Amy Spencer Elliott; nephews, Trevor Greene, Carson Greene, and Devon Greene; niece, Breyonna Elliott; and special family members, Tameakka King, Natasha Hoyle, Arleen Glover, and the Belmont Group Home residents and workers.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Zack Christy officiating. Burial will follow at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
