Margaret Frances Hicks Roberson, 78, formerly of Tot Dellinger Road in Cherryville, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2026, at the home of her son in Danbury, North Carolina.

Mrs. Roberson was born on August 19, 1948, the daughter of the late James Miles Hicks and Ollie Jane Woods Hicks.

She was a devoted member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for 50 years. Her church and her faith held a special place in her life, and she enjoyed helping with church activities, particularly Vacation Bible School and Christmas festivities. Her favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”

Mrs. Roberson was retired from Mauney Hosiery Mill.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Lester “Sonny” Roberson; and her sisters, Martha Short, Lillie Sanders, Mildred Biddix, and Sarah Roberson.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Geoffrey Roberson and wife, Holly, of Danbury, North Carolina, and William Lester Roberson Jr. and wife, Gwen, of Raleigh, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; her brother, Luther Hicks of Fallston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her many years of faithful service to her church, and the faith that remained an important part of her life.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Mull and Rev. Bradley Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
