Margie Hedgpeth

Margie Helen Whitworth Hedgpeth, age 92 of Dallas Cherryville Hwy passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Peak Resources. She was born July 8, 1926 in Gaston County to the late Matthew and Ida Heavner Whitworth. She attended Lincolnton Church of God. Margie was an excellent homemaker who loved caring for her husband and raising her daughter. She enjoyed working in her yard, tending to her flowers, canning, and crocheting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Plato Wesley Hedgpeth; daughter, Phyllis Sain; brother, Eugene Whitworth; and sisters, Annie Hester, Gladys Ledbetter, Mary Withers, and Dolly Hedgpeth.

Survivors include her granddaughter, April Preslar and husband, William of Stanley; son-in-law, Randy Sain of Cherryville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
