Marylin Moore Kurtyka, age 78, of Cherryville, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Atrium Health Shelby. She was born August 17, 1947, in Dover Delaware to the late William Edgar Moore, and the late Margaret Mae Jones Moore Hoffman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Emily Schwingl; husband, Stanley James Kurtyka; and siblings, Joe Moore, Skip Moore, and Peggy Moore.

Survivors include daughters, Ann Marie Graham (Jeff) of Forest City, and Nanette Lynn Smith (Kris) of Cherryville; brother, Donald R. Moore (Peggy) of Brooksville, Florida; grandchildren, Christopher Scott Phillips of Forest City, Rebecca Lee Engleoff (Scott) of Cherryville, Brandi M. Lyles (Will) of Forest City, Richard Charles Schwingl, Jr. and Stephanie N. Schwingl both of Jacksonville FL, Alyssa Brianna Smith-Phillips (Mike) of Cherryville, and Diana and Jeffrey, Jr.; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

In accordance with Marylin’s wishes all services will be private.
