McKinley "Wayne" Golden

McKinley “Wayne” Golden, age 69, of Cherryville, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at his residence after a short battle with cancer.  He was born July 16, 1953 in Surry County to the late Thomas McKinley and Sadie Alene McCann Golden.  He loved traveling to the beach.  Wayne had an extraordinary collection of Barbie Dolls that he enjoyed collecting throughout the years. He also enjoyed working in the yard and gardening.

He is survived by his partner of nearly 37 years, Tony Gore; daughter, Amy Dawn Antone and husband, Reggie; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Tianna, and Asha; sister-in-law, Anita Clark; brother-in-law, DeWayne Gore; next door neighbors, Tony and Lisa; and his canine companion, Bandit.

Funeral service will be held Monday, June 12, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Dale Hendricks officiating.  Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
