Norman Monroe Penley, Jr., age 55, passed away March 12, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 21, 1969, in Gaston County, to the late Norman Monroe Penley, Sr., and the late Lora Marie Sutton Penley.
Norman was a member of New Day Ministries, and he was proud to have God in his life. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Norman loved to watch racecars and spend time on the dirt tracks. His weekends were usually spent at Carolina Speedway or at East Lincoln Motor Speedway. Norman also liked singing karaoke and loved his family.
In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Ann Penley Kirkpatrick; and nephews, Alfred C. Dellinger III, Ronnie L. Underdown, Jr., and Bobby J. Lambert.
Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Gale Lambert Penley; sisters, Lora Loretta Dellinger (Bruce), and Tammy Marie Underdown (Shorty); in-laws, Cathy Lafone (Monie Burrow), Ricky Lambert, Ralph David Lowman (Nancy), and Mary Hedrick; nephews, Norman Dellinger, Russell Hedrick, and Barry Totherow; nieces, Marie Safley, Ashley Walker, Renee Underdown, Heather Underdown, Keisha Kirkpatrick, Leigh Kirkpatrick, Sherrie Smith, and Alisha Ann; great-nieces, Destini, Leah, Braelynn, Cheyenne, Dixie, Kayla, and Dawn; and great-nephews, Isaac, BJ, Landin, Eric, and David Lee.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 17, 2025, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home, with Charlie Lamberth and Paul Chambers officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times at the home. Burial will follow at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
