Raymond "Ray" Lawrence Dauer, Sr., age 84, passed away January 18, 2025, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House of Huntersville. Ray was born September 5, 1940, in Columbus, OH, to the late Raymond Francis and Juanita Faye Slates Dauer. 

 

Ray was a retired Veteran of the United States Navy, where he achieved the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer (E8). He was employed as an electrician for Timken for 25 years and a member of First Baptist Church in Cherryville. Ray enjoyed building and collecting model trains. He and his wife would travel annually to Spring S Spree train shows in Ohio. Ray was passionate about classic cars; he finished restoring a ’64 Ford Galaxy 500, and loved attending car shows.

 

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Lawrence Dauer, Jr., sister, Sandy Bowers; and stepsister, Carla Zirklebock.

 

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 30 years, Mary Frances Childers Dauer; children, David Wesley Dauer (Mary), Teresa Lynn Brady (Dwayne), and Lisa Ann Henley (Chris); grandchildren, Bryan Andrew Dauer (Julia), Travis Lawrence Dauer, Jennifer Main (Chris), Chrissy Hockett (Corey), Cody Beanblossom, Dalton Avery Brady, Jacob Christian Henley (Morgan), and Luke Aaron Henley; great-grandchildren, Colt Beauregard Dauer, Everlei Willow Dauer, Kennedy Blair Hockett, Eden Delilah Henley, and Thatcher Main; beloved miniature schnauzer, Murphy; numerous nieces and nephews; and the wonderful, caring neighbors of the White Pines Community.

 

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 24, 2025, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 PM, prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery, with military honors.
