In Loving Memory

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of R.J. “Jack” Moss, Jr., age 75, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, on April 10, 2025, at Wendover Hospice.

Born on November 3, 1949, in Cleveland County, Jack was the cherished son of the late Rufus Jackson “R.J.” Moss, Sr. and the late Louise Moss Chapman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Blair Mull.

Jack proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Cherryville.

For over forty years, Jack operated his own business, R.J. Moss, Jr. Landscaping, Inc., and was known by many in the community through his work. Yet, his talents reached far beyond his trade—he was a true Jack of all trades. If something needed fixing and no one else knew how, he could be counted on to find a way.

He was an adventurer at heart, embracing life with a passion for the outdoors and a wide variety of hobbies including hunting, fishing, golfing, and tractor pulling. He was full of life, always ready with a joke or a sweet treat to brighten someone’s day. His mission in life was simple yet profound: to bring a smile to others.

Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathy McSwain Moss; daughters, Stephanie Dellinger and Julia Moss; grandchildren, Ryan Mull, Georgia Dellinger, and Houston Dellinger; brother, Randy Moss; sister, Janet Bridges; nieces and nephews, Johnny Bridges, Jackie Shull, and Lance Moss.

His legacy of love, laughter, and joy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May his love for life and jovial spirit continue to inspire us all to live fully and love deeply.

In accordance with Jack’s wishes, a private family service will be held.

To honor his memory, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
