Rose Ellen Beam King, age 94, of Greensboro, formerly of Cherryville, passed away November 16, 2025, at Spring Arbor Senior Living of Greensboro. Rose was born April 26, 1931, in Gaston County, to the late George D. and Mae Strutt Beam.
Rose was the owner of Asby’s Dress shop, Murrow, Georgia, and a homemaker. She was a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie MacKinnon Peterson; father of her children and first husband; Charles MacKinnon; granddaughter, Samantha MacKinnon; siblings; Cam Beam, George Beam, Jr., Mary Ann Combs, Betty Davison, Shirley Hallman, David Lee Beam (Carrol), and E.L. Beam (Gail); nephew, Cam Beam; and Tom King.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra MacKinnon Lineback; son, David Charles MacKinnon; grandchildren, Stephanie Lineback, Elizabeth Rossasco (Scott), Brittany MacKinnon, Andrea Peterson, and Anthony Peterson; and great-grandchildren, Alexandra Rossasco and Phoebe Rossasco.
A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating and George Beam III providing music. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM, prior to the service, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home.
