Obituary

Sherry Kay Anthony Morales, age 77, of Cherryville, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. Sherry was born July 18, 1948, in Gaston County, to the late Alton and Dorothy Watts Anthony.

Sherry was beautiful, funny, smart, fashionable, social, and deeply devoted to family. She was the heart of every gathering and the light of every room. Her outgoing personality and love for people made her a cherished friend to many. She had a gift for making others feel welcome, valued, and loved. Though our hearts are broken by her loss, we take comfort in the legacy of love, laughter, strength, and kindness she leaves behind. Her spirit will live on in the lives she touched and in the memories that will forever be held close.

In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Leocadio “George” Morales.

Survivors include her children, Kevin Morales, Crystal Morales, and Roy Morales (Mandy); brother, Roger Anthony; grandchildren, Grace Morales, and Rachel Morales; dear friend, Polly Burleson; and fur baby, Lucy.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home. Sherry will be buried next to her husband, in Largo, Florida.
