Terry Canipe Hayes

Terry Maxine Canipe Hayes, age 57, of Lincolnton, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, at Atrium Health Lincoln. She was born February 21, 1967, in Lincoln County, to the late Wesley Lee and Abbey Alma Hughes Canipe. 

Terry worked in the bakery at Lincolnton Walmart for nearly 11 years. She had a green thumb and loved gardening, especially growing bell peppers. Terry also enjoyed canning, and she adored flowers. Terry’s favorite color was purple. She enjoyed watching airplanes, even though she refused to ride in one herself. Terry was a godly woman and an amazing mom, neither of which faltered, until she returned home to her Lord and Savior. Her family knew she was thinking of Aldin the entire time. Terry will be remembered most for her hugs, and her love for her family. 

In addition to her parents, Terry was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Ward; and brother-in-law, Dougie Hayes.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Edward Hayes; sons, Aldin Hayes, Rod Hayes (Julie), and Jason Hayes (Deana Marsh); daughters, Charity Ogle (Kyle), and Ashley Watts; brother, Marvin Canipe; sisters, Ruth Johnson, Geraldine Ross (Martin), and Faye Helms (James); brother-in-law, Ricky Hayes (Melba); sisters-in-law, Judy Leonhardt (Jeff), and Tammy Hayes; grandchildren, Morgan Hayes, Cooper Hayes, Chandler Ragsdale, Carson Ragsdale, Zoey Hayes, Camden Wray, Karson Wray (Drake Elliott), Kylie Ogle, Case Ogle, Jaxson Watts, and Levi Hale; great-grandchild, Wrenlee; special friends, Seth Clemmer and fiancé, Sydney Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews, including her special nephew, Daniel Canipe.

In accordance with Terry’s wishes, no formal services will be held at this time.
