Vanessa Collins

Vanessa Darnell Raines Collins, age 64 of Marys Grove Church Rd. passed away on November 10, 2016 at Carolinas Healthcare System - Cleveland. She was born on June 20, 1952 in Gaston County to the late Marvin Richard Raines and Ruth Colleen Moore. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and formerly employed at Gayley and Lord Textiles. Vanessa was a loving mother, mawmaw, and sister. She loved everyone "a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck."

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Calvin Raines.

Survivors include her son, Floyd Collins Jr. and wife, Susan of Dallas; daughters, Tammie Collins of Gastonia, Sonja Saylor and husband, Jeff of Cherryville, and Tiffany Harris and husband, Joey of Kings Mountain; brothers, Kenneth James Raines and wife, Pam of Bessemer City and Robert Eugene Hall of Lowell; father of her children, Floyd Collins Sr. of Gastonia; thirteen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday November 13, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Kim Robertson officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
