William Farrel Anthony Sr. age 69, formerly of Pink St. passed away Monday, October 3, 2016. He was born on April 6, 1947 in Gaston County to the late Woodrow Wilson Anthony and Edith Louise Noles Anthony Shull. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed tinkering with things and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene Anthony and Don "Chubby" Anthony; and sisters, Bernice Seate and Barbara Haskin.

Survivors include his sons, William Farrel Anthony Jr. and fiancée, Carolyn Lowery of Cherryville and Evans Christopher Anthony of Shelby; brother, Steve Anthony of Lincolnton; sister, Brenda Houck of Cherryville; grandchildren, William Blair Anthony and wife, Brittany, Jessica Warren Sain, and Heather Leigh Anthony; great grandchildren, Chance Young, Eli Anthony, Bryson Anthony, Bella Young, and Baylee Anthony; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Leonard Bumgardner officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Cherryville American Legion Post #100 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services.
