William Franklin Turner, age 80, of Cherryville, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Carolina Care Health and Rehabilitation. Sometimes referred to as William, he was also affectionally known as “Whitey” to some, and “Brownie” to others. He was born July 22, 1945, in Rutherford County, to the late Lorin and Girthie Bowen Turner. Whitey retired from the City of Cherryville after over 25 years. He was a member of Cherryville Christian Fellowship, formerly Missionary Methodist. He loved church, going to gospel singings, and worshipping the Lord. In his recent time at Carolina Care, he really enjoyed the senior activities held there, especially BINGO, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Whitey also loved to go camping and spent many years on camping trips with his wife, Brenda.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Brittian Turner; siblings, Harlan Turner and Sandra Zeigler; and special friend and sidekick, Barbara Mrosz.
Survivors include his children, Roger Reinhardt (Sherry), Loretta Bauer, John Turner (Shirley), and Patricia Hamrick; siblings, Clayton Turner, Carolyn Turner, Wilma Lee Turner, and Velma Morris; grandchildren, Derek Owens, Bradley Reinhardt, Neely Anderson, Sarah Lynn, Veronica Bauer, Kane Bauer, and 6 other grandchildren; and great grandchildren, Dylan Reinhardt, Parker Anderson, Rylee Anderson, Gabriel Bauer, and Noah Lynn.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 8, 2025, from 4:00 to 4:45 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will follow at 5:00 PM on Friday at Carpenter-Porter with Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will be private.
